“How can you call the God you have served for so long, your enemy?” this is asked by Drey’auc to Teal’c the first time Teal’c returns home from encountering the Tau’ri while harvesting new host to the Goa’uld. Teal’c never believed the Goa’uld were gods. You can tell in the same episode, in the same scene when he tells his wife Drey’auc, “The Prim’ta is Slavery”.
StarGate is not possible with out Teal’c, plain and simple. If he had never decided to call the god he served as an enemy. The Future of not only earth would have been enslaved and/or wiped out. As it is foretold in Season 1 Episode 21.
And that’s why Stargate should have been a story about Teal’c and the journey and obstacles to free his own people from the tyranny of the Goa’ulds. Teal’c is the main character.
The Next time the Goa’uld are encontered is the discovery / awakening of Hathor. Teal’c was the only male that was not seduced and enslaved. His position in SG-1 is as important to his people as it was to the people of the Tau’ri.
Season 1 Episode 21 proves this to be true, and yet the show continued with Teal’c being a supporting character.
